Privacy & safety
Effective August 8, 2026
Do not upload screenshots containing sensitive personal information, health or financial records, passwords, private communications, intimate imagery, illegal material, or content you do not have permission to process.
What leaves your browser
Before upload, Grid Solver decodes your selected PNG, JPG, or WebP image, removes embedded metadata, converts it to PNG, and limits its size. The sanitized screenshot is sent over HTTPS to the Grid Solver server and then to an inference service, which routes the request to a multimodal model. The model returns a board title, cell text, and—when using Rebus mode—cell boundaries. If you choose Solve Assist, the current clue text and any Rebus tile images are sent in a separate request so a reasoning model can propose four groups and estimate its confidence. If you chat with Grid Coach, the clue text, your tile colors and annotations, any available saved solution, and a short recent conversation are sent in a smaller follow-up request. Without a saved solution, Rebus tile images are also sent so the coach can reason about their visual representation; once a solution is available, those images are not resent to the coach.
What is retained
- Grid Solver does not intentionally save uploaded screenshots on its server or in a server database.
- Request-body disk buffering is disabled; the application holds the image in memory while processing it.
- Solve Assist answers may be cached for approximately 90 days under a keyed board fingerprint so an identical grid can reuse the answer without another model request. The cache does not store the submitted screenshot, Rebus tile images, IP address, or raw board cells, although an answer's short explanations may repeat clue text.
- Returned token counts and calculated request costs are retained for operational usage accounting without board content or a client identifier.
- Inference or model providers may inspect or retain relevant content or metadata for safety, abuse prevention, security, or legal compliance.
- Rate limiting stores a one-way keyed fingerprint of your IP address and request times for no more than approximately 24 hours.
- Operational web logs can contain your IP address, browser information, request path, status, and time. They are configured to rotate after seven days. API upload bodies are not included in access logs.
Browser-local boards
Board text, annotations, layout, Rebus tile crops, the current Solve Assist answer, and your Grid Coach conversation are saved in this browser's local storage so the workspace survives a reload. Text mode does not save the submitted screenshot. Rebus mode saves only the extracted tile images, not the full screenshot. Resetting the workspace removes the current board data; clearing site data in your browser removes all Grid Solver local data.
Safety and acceptable use
Grid Solver is for puzzle and grid screenshots. Child sexual abuse material, non-consensual intimate imagery, exploitation, unlawful content, and attempts to bypass service safeguards are prohibited. Processing may be refused, reported, or preserved when required by law or a service provider's safety rules. This service is not directed to children under 13.
Your choices
Crop screenshots before upload, use Text mode when visual preservation is unnecessary, reset the board when finished, forget a saved Solve Assist answer from its result sheet, and clear this site's browser data for complete local deletion. You can use the workspace without importing a screenshot or requesting a solve.
